Members of a Lauderdale County church Sunday spend the morning celebrating the opening of their new church building. And it comes after a long struggle to see the church constructed. Two years ago, during construction straight line wind destroyed what had already been built. Now the structure is complete. Church members say they couldn't be happier.
The building cost about one million dollars, and it was paid for as the money came in through donations.
"It was kind of disheartening but we knew God was in control there was a reason. It took us two or three weeks to put the pieces back together. And here we are about two years later and we moved in today," said Mark Naylor who is the Building Committee Chairman.
"You know most fund raising projects can become burdensome, but we never made it a burden to anyone. We just asked everyone to pray. People rose up to the occasion and gave faithfully," said Pastor Tommy Espey.
Until now, the church has been meeting in the gym building next door to the new building.

Is this the church on Hwy 39?
If would be nice if we knew the name of this church. No where in the story does it tell the name or where in Lauderdale County.
Do we not know the name of the Church? There has to be close to 200 in Meridian.
