4th of July Celebrations

In Kemper County the 4th of July celebration took place in Dekalb on the front steps of the courthouse.

Wednesday the celebration had a crowd including 3rd District Congressman Gregg Harper and local veterans.

Harper says it is so important to celebrate with those who have served our country.

"Its the Fourth of July, we're here again in Dekalb to celebrate with wonderful folks here, and who love our country" says Harper. "We've got so many people who have served in the military, and taken care of defending our liberties. It just makes you proud to come here and to just celebrate "

Harper continues a tradition of Congressmen speaking at this event that was started by Sonny Montgomery.
