A special week of remembering is underway for the victims of the Lockheed shooting Lauderdale County in 2003.

Yellow and black ribbons are now hung on the doors of downtown businesses.

The city of Meridian, Downtown Association, Lauderdale County and Mission Meridian kicked off the 2nd Annual Reconciliation Week Monday.

The theme for this year is "Overcoming, By Doing Good."

"This is important, because when tragedy happens, people are hurt. And something has to happen with those hurt feelings," said Stacey Miller, daughter of the Rev. Charles Miller who died in the workplace shooting. "So we are emphasizing positive ways of healing."

Each day this week, the victims will be remembered in some way.

Tuesday, survivors of Lockheed and other crimes will gather at 5 p.m. at the Mission Meridian office. Wednesday, the anniversary of the shootings, a memorial luncheon will be held at Union Station. And Thursday, the Charles Miller family will serve lemonade at Dumont Plaza.
