The town of Scooba has issued a boil water advisory until further notice.
Officials say a major water leak happened Wednesday night on Highway 16.
It was repaired and service restored about 11:30 p.m., but contaminants could have gotten into the line.
Residents will be notified when tests confirm the water is safe to drink without boiling it first.
