Parents and administrators met again at the Wesley House looking to solve problems within the district.
It was another jam-packed community forum as many residents turned out to voice concerns and hear feedback from Meridian Public Schools' superintendent Charlie Kent.
During the first hour, Kent answered submitted questions as well as impromptu questions from the audience. During the second hour, three breakout sessions were held addressing specific concerns including communication and school violence and discipline.
Many expressed confused over a few of Kent's statements during Sunday's summit at Fifth Street Baptist Church. Kent said "there were some elephants in the room," but he didn't elaborate on that statement. Parents wanted answers during the forum.
An audience member made a stride toward action regarding increasing security measures by donating security camera for one of the school buses. One camera will also be donated to Lauderdale County Public Schools.

My response is to the person who asked where are the black parents? The maority of black parents are working one or more jobs. Some may have the priveledge of not working most don't. Correction! Band Boosters are not 100% white.
They still need to do something about the shape of MPSD no matter how hard they are working or how much time they volunteer. I do expect them to do the work they signed on to do. If I could do more than my part on the current state of affairs, I would. I am not in a position to right this ship; they are. They still need to quite fiddling while Rome burns. It doesn't have anything to do with the average citizen. We do not have the power to fix this problem. They do.
To Concerned 7-21@7:06pm The current school board is working hard. Don't be so critical until you have walked a mile in their shoes. We need more people in this city willing to serve and volunteer as much time as these five dedicated people have over the years to this school district. So often we expect a few to do all the work and we fail to do our part. As citizens of this community we should all strive to be observant, work together and do our part to help make MPSD the best.
