A handgun was found at Southeast Lauderdale High School Nov. 14 during a random search for illegal drugs by a Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit.
The school district has a "zero tolerance" policy concerning weapons.
Officials said the gun was taken from a vehicle by a student concerned that it might be found during the random search and was not used to threaten anyone.
The cases of the students involved are being handled through juvenile court. Their names will not be released.
