Pickering-Shows Debate

It was everything you might expect from a debate at the Neshoba County Fair. The crowd was big and loud, and the weather was hot and humid.

Congressmen Ronnie Shows and Chip Pickering went at it on a number of issues as they answered questions from a three-person panel.

The first issue was whom they would vote for when it came time to elect a Speaker of the House. Shows was booed when he referenced Dick Gephardt of Missouri.

Both men used the debate to try to separate themselves and their core values from the other.

This will likely not be the last debate between these two men, but it could be the most important, with the large crowd and media present from across the state.

Who won might not be determined until the general election on Nov. 5.
