The women of DeKalb have a new place to call their own. Women's Fitness Plus celebrated its grand opening Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"We wanted to see something for the ladies in our area because there haven't been a lot of things for the ladies. This is something to help them in their health and to feel better about themselves. We enjoy it and we want them to enjoy it with us," said owners Barbara McCullers and Mamie Lunsford.

Women's Fitness Plus features a circuit-style training program with exercises designed to target problem areas.

Also in DeKalb Thursday, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of a new place of worship.

Members of the community were invited to help celebrate the future home of God Cares Ministries.

"We will have weekly church services on Sunday morning and then we will have a Wednesday night mid-week service," said Annie Brown. "We also have an after school tutorial service that we provide everyday 3:30 to 5:30."

God Cares Ministries will begin construction in early 2004. The church should be completed by the end of the year.
