Nine deputy clerks who work for Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson were sworn in Monday afternoon. Judge Robert Bailey conducted the ceremony.
The clerks assist Johnson in running the circuit and county court departments, registering citizens to vote, issuing marriage licenses and other duties.
"These ladies' service ranges from almost six years to almost 18 years. And these ladies do an outstanding job for Lauderdale County and for the citizens. They make my job so easy. They make me look good and they do all the work. I really do appreciate them," said Johnson.
The law requires that deputy circuit clerks take the oath of office. Johnson was reelected un-opposed in November.
