Meridian police have charged a man with manslaughter after an alleged hit-and-run incident on Sunday.
Jody Lee Lindsay, 39, turned himself in to police Tuesday morning. Authorities say he hit a pedestrian Sunday evening near Eastern Gardens Apartments in Meridian,
The victim, Rosemary Anderson, 47, died later at University Medical Center in Jackson.
"If you're involved in an accident, whether you're in the right or the wrong or whatever condition you're in, you need to stay there and take care of it," said detective Darrell Theall. "Because once you leave, you know, you've broken the law."
Theall said it's possible there would have been no criminal charge, if the driver had not fled the scene.
Lindsay's bond was set at $20,000.
