Alabama's Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bishop, a democrat who lost a bid for governor, has now endorsed the republican nominee for the office, Cong. Bob Riley. Bishop explained his reasons at a news conference.

"I'm going to support Mr. Riley in any way I can and help him become governor of this state," said Bishop. "We're going to have a Democrat Senate. We're going to have a two party system whether we have Mr. Riley or Mr. Siegelman. And I really, truly believe if we have Mr. Siegelman, it will be temporary. That's why I'm supporting Mr. Riley."

Bishop got 80,000 votes in the democratic race with the incumbent, Siegelman.
