Meridian Community College hosted an open house for its new manufacturing automation lab Thursday. Courses in maintenance for this integral part of manufacturing are available at the Webb Center. Designer Dan Talley said local companies also requested it.
"If you don't have the proper training for the maintenance support of that automation, your system could be down," said Talley. "You could have a multi-million dollar production system shut down for hours at a time if you don't have the proper training to maintain it."
"You have to have that type training available when prospective industry comes calling and wants to know if you're going to have the people that can go to work in their industries," said MCC president, Dr. Scott Elliott.
The five training stations are portable and can be taken to the site of a business, if necessary.
