Some students at West End Elementary School will be enjoying school on Saturdays.
The school has received a $1,000 grant from Dollar General store to begin a Saturday reading program called ''1-2-3 Read''. Students volunteer for the special program.
"Any of our third grade students will participate. We chose that group because they're in the major testing population. So, we wanted to focus with them with reading and something fun with reading," said West End principal Ouida Roberts.
The Meridian school board provided matching funds for the program, which will be offered February through April.
