Scott Co. Arrests

A Scott County teenager whose body was found in the woods this week had been strangled.

Coroner Joe Bradford said an autopsy showed 17-year-old Shannon Torrence was killed by someone who had an arm around his neck. Torrence was a senior at Scott Central High School.

Two men are charged with capital murder in the slaying. Sheriff William Richardson says the suspects, 18-year-old Issac Jermaine Nelson and 19-year-old Craig Lashoun McBeath, knew Torrence. They were arrested Tuesday and denied bond after initial court appearance Wednesday.

Richardson would not say what the motive for the slaying was. He said Torrence's car was stolen Friday before he was reported missing.

A sheriff's deputy looking for Torrence found his nude body in woods just off an old logging road in the Midway community.
