The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department has charged a student in a bomb threat made Thursday at Northeast Middle School.
Officials had said they anticipated making an arrest.
Because of his juvenile status, the suspect's name cannot be released.
"With the aid of school officials at that campus, we were able to successfully determine an individual to be charged in this," said Maj. Ward Calhoun. "The investigators are still working on some information, but we do believe that we have the individual who was responsible for that, and we will continue on through the prosecution phase of this investigation."
If the suspect is convicted, he would be sentenced according to laws governing juveniles by youth court judge, Frank Coleman.
