The Mississippi House passed a bill that would permit the Ten Commandments to be posted in all public buildings.
Rep. Willie Bailey of Greenville said the vote could create constitutional problems with the separation of church and state.
But Rep. Jessica Sibley Upshaw of Diamondhead said the commandments could provide needed moral guidance.
The bill now moves to the Senate.
