Berta Lee White, who represented Lauderdale County in the Mississippi Legislature for two terms, died Tuesday at Beverly Health Care Center in Meridian.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Barham Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. White was 89.
White served in the Mississippi House from 1964 to 1968, one of only four women in the legislative body including fellow Lauderdale County Rep. Betty Jane Long.
When White switched to the Senate for the 1968 to 1972 term, she was the only woman in that body.
White was chairwoman of the Senate Public Utilities Committee. She was defeated for re-election to the Senate in 1971 by the late Glen Deweese.
