Investigators called the disappearance of a Yazoo County family more than a missing persons case. They say a violent crime likely occurred at the home of Michael and Rebecca Hargon.
Authorities have been searching for the Hargons and their 4-year-old son, James Patrick, since the family was discovered missing on Valentine's Day.
In the Hargons' house, investigators found dried blood droplets, bullet holes and shell casings. Searches are being conducted daily in Yazoo County and neighboring Madison County by investigators, using bloodhounds and aircraft. The search includes the Big Black River, which separates the two counties.
The task force searching for the family has been bulked up and is apparently expanding its search. The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics has entered the investigation.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain says about 100 leads have already been checked into. Because of the national attention the case has received, Strain says daily updates will be held for news media to ensure the information going out is accurate.
