Authorities continued searching Tuesday for seven men who fled a minimum-security facility in Walnut Grove.

The Clarion-Ledger reports that the Mississippi Department of Corrections issued warrants for the escapees, and wardens were working with local law enforcement to apprehend them.

Cecil McCrory, a Walnut Grove Transition Center managing partner, said the men walked off the campus during an evening smoking break Sunday. He said the inmates are at the facility to pay restitution.

The 200-bed center in Leake County is owned by American Transition Services. It opened in March. It aims to reduce recidivism by providing job training and placement.

Since when are inmates allowed smoke breaks. The whole point on incarceration is to punish the offender.

It might help their cause if they'd actually print the names of the escapees...
