As part of its quarterly review, Bell South plans to eliminate 778 jobs across the region by the end of June.
The largest cut of 296 will be in the company's home state of Georgia.
Mississippi is set to lose 44 jobs statewide.
"Locally I don't really know what number will be impacted here," said
district manager C.D. Smith. "But that will be determined by the seniority and the working agreement."
Since 2000, Bell South has cut about 20 percent of its workforce due to economic pressures.
