Special Retirement

Members of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department held a retirement party for investigator Jim Stephens Wednesday. This is Stephen's fourth year with the sheriff's department. However, previously he 20 years with the Meridian Police Department, and served 10 years in the Navy.

"There's still a lot of stuff out there that I can do if I want to. I just want to let the dust settle before I decide to do anything," said Investigator Jim Stephens, retiree.

"We're certainly going to miss him. We've already placed somebody in his position," said Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie. "Detective Casey McElhenney is going to be taking his role in the department and we look forward to working with Casey."

Wednesday morning during its regular session, the county board of supervisors also presented Stephens with a special resolution honoring his achievements.
