The Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee met about the nomination of Maj. Gen. Harold Cross Monday. The full Senate will vote sometime before the session ends May 9.
The chairman of the Senate Military Affairs Committee, Videt Carmichael of Meridian, said most of the information he got about Cross was positive.
But retired Col. Jody Bryant of Meridian says Cross should not be confirmed because the general either directly or indirectly allowed wrongdoing to occur at the 186th Air Refueling Wing in Meridian.
The Air Force previously conducted two investigations into allegations of racism, records falsification, misuse of funds and other accusations of corruption at the 186th.
Cross has said he was cleared in the first investigation and he has denied any wrongdoing.
Cross has been acting adjutant general since mid-January, pending confirmation.
Gov. Haley Barbour nominated Cross and says he has been pleased with the general's work so far.
