Kellie Hamill of Macon, Miss., Tuesday issued a public statement. She told her husband she loves and misses him and asked his captors to release him unharmed as soon as possible.
Hamill also thanked those who have been praying for her husband.
The residents of Macon have put out yellow ribbons and prayers for Hamill, who makes his home in the community along with his wife and their two children, ages 11 and 13.
Nothing has been heard from Hamill since video aired Saturday showing him in front of an Iraqi flag. He was earlier shown held captive in a car by masked gunmen.
Hamill went to Iraq in September to work as a truck driver for a subsidiary of Halliburton, which supplies U.S. forces.
Friends describe Hamill as a quiet man and a devout Christian.
