Everette Keller served as Lauderdale County sheriff from 1972 through 1984. Current Sheriff Billy Sollie paid tribute to Keller at the board of supervisors meeting.
"Sheriff Keller was a pioneer. He served for three terms. He was the first sheriff to do that," said Sollie, the only other sheriff to do that. "The community respected him. They felt that he was the right man for the job during those troubled times. He was very courageous. He was very honest and a very hardworking individual."
Keller also served as a county patrolman, following his years in office. He was 75.
