Veterans had center stage Tuesday morning at Southeast Lauderdale High School. The school goes all out each year to mark the occasion of Veterans Day.
Southeast High principal Dwane Taylor says it's a reminder that freedom is not free. He said the best part is getting to talk with the veterans, who are invited to have lunch on campus.
"It's a way to honor our veterans, and you know, welcome back some of our own who are veterans that graduated from here," said Taylor. "But it's just a way for our school to let the community know that we do appreciate them. And as Mr. Davis, who kind of heads this thing up says, you know they are our true heroes, we feel like."
This was the 15th Annual Veterans Day Program at the school, started by retired principal, Algie Davis.
