Mississippi lawmakers met again on Sunday to talk about the budget. They have given themselves a few more days to agree on final budget bills.

The House and Senate Sunday voted to send “dummy'' bills back to conference. The “dummy'' bills were filed Saturday to let lawmakers meet a deadline.

By voting to send the bills to conference, legislators can continue their negotiations on a spending plan for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

The House and Senate have hit stalemates over funding for education, Medicaid and other programs.

Mississippi lawmakers missed a Saturday night deadline to file a compromised budget proposal. The House and Senate had until 8 o'clock deadline on Saturday night and only filed budget outlines.
