The York Police Department is investigating a Sunday night shooting. It happened around 10:15 p.m. at the EZ Kleen Car Wash in York.

"A gentleman went to meet someone, met them there and received several gunshot wounds," said York Police Chief Ricky Thomas.

Thomas said the victim then apparently tried to drive himself to Hill Hospital in York, but ran off the road and hit a utility pole near the hospital. It knocked out power to the hospital and about 50 residents.

The victim, Andreas Rumley of York, was discovered at the crash site and transported to Rush Hospital in Meridian, where he later died from his wounds.

A man involved in the shooting turned himself to York police and is being held at the Sumter County Jail.
