Candidates Set for Special Election

Moody, a Democrat from Louisville, resigned May 7 and is expected to become deputy director of the state Medicaid program. He had been in the House nearly 21 years.

Party affiliations will not be listed on the special election ballots in District 43, which includes all of Winston County and parts of Kemper and Noxubee counties.

A runoff, if necessary, is set for June 15. To qualify for the election, each candidates had to submit petitions signed by at least 50 registered voters in the district.

The qualifiers, according to the secretary of state's office, are:
