Melissa Hooker won the principal's Academic Award, which signifies the highest grade point average. She said it took hard work and dedication to achieve the goal, with help from her parents.
"They help me. They push me to strive and do the best I can," said Hooker.
Many others were also recognized for going above and beyond the minimum effort.
"I have done a lot in this school and I got a lot of awards for it," said Kristin Amerson, who won the Assistant Principal's Award.
"I did mostly everything the teachers did, except teach," said Britney Pritchard. "And I helped all the students that needed help. I know I need help sometimes. And I asked others."
Administrators encourage students to ask for extra help when they need it, and as these young ladies offer it when they can.
