The Army Corps of Engineers is closing Collinsville Beach early on Friday instead of after Labor Day, due to low water levels. However, Pine Springs Beach and West Bank Park, along with the Water Slide, will stay open till after Labor Day.
Ranger Mark Dean said the Collinsville Beach is a problem because it's long and narrow, making it a problem for swimmers when the water's down.
Rainfall was good in July but wasn't enough to overcome the drought of May and June.
