The Board of Aldermen in Philadelphia have voted down a proposal that would have made the sell of beer and wine legal in restaurants.
The 4-1 vote came in last Tuesday's board meeting. They also decided to rescind a previous motion to place the issue on the November ballot.
Several restaurants submitted a proposal in March to amend the city's beer and wine ordinance. The board had been reluctant to discuss the issue for nearly three months.
Beer and wine can be sold in convenient stores.
