A statewide initiative called Project Homestead is aiming to close this gap. Local organizers say the problem is often a lack of knowledge.
"Here at Multi-County we have the shelter for the homeless and Care Lodge Domestic Violence Shelter is also in the city," says project coordinator Jane Livingston. "There are services in our community that people just may not be aware of."
Making people aware of these services and providing them is the mission of Project Homestead. The group meets the last Tuesday of every month.
