Another special session is expected to be called soon to deal with a bond program that failed in the 2004 Legislature, and a state lawmaker says the session will also include an economic development project.
Senator Mike Chaney, of Vicksburg, chairman of the Senate Education Committee, says the bond program would include funds for construction projects at the universities and junior colleges and at various state agencies.
That bond package would be about $300 million. The economic incentives program would be in a separate bill.
While Chaney and economic development officials would not specify what company was involved in the project, the U.S. Coast Guard is holding public hearings on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and in the Mobile, Alabama area on a proposed liquefied natural gas terminal.
The first hearing is July 12 on Dauphin Island, the second July 13 in Mobile and the third July 14 in Pascagoula.
ConocoPhillips applied with the U.S. Coast Guard for the terminal in April.
