Authorities say Donald James Peckinpaugh, 20, was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of kidnapping. He awaits his initial court appearance and bond hearing.
The alleged kidnapping took place on July 5 at the Fleet Travel Center in Jackson County on Mississippi Highway 609, when Peckinpaugh approached three women and a man traveling together from Alabama.
The victims had stopped at the travel center to change drivers.
Peckinpaugh, posing as an officer, allegedly placed one of his alleged victims, a 42-year-old female, in handcuffs and made her sit in the front seat of his car. The other two women were made to sit in the back seat.
Authorities say Peckinpaugh took the handcuffed woman to a nearby motel and released her unharmed. However, authorities did say he took medication from her purse.
The other two women were taken to another area in Pascagoula and released unharmed.
