A former Mississippi prison inmate has been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to blow up a federal courthouse in Chicago.

Police say Glae William Nettles, 66, was arrested with a pickup truck containing 1,500 of fertilizer he allegedly thought could be used to make a powerful bomb.

U.S. attorneys say Nettles planned to sell the chemical to terrorists so they could blow up the Dirksen federal building.

Nettles previously served time in a federal prison in Yazoo City for counterfeiting.

A criminal complaint against Nettles says that while he was housed in the Mississippi prison last August, he asked a government informant if he could help him obtain ammonium nitrate.

Federal agents set up a sting after Nettles was released in October.
