A senior at Lamar High School scored a perfect 36 on the ACT he took on June 8. Of more than 8,300 Mississippi students who took the test that day, Dave Hicks was the only one to get every question right.
It wasn't the first time Dave took the ACT, the very first time he scored an enviable score of 33.
"I just hold myself to a high standard and just kept shooting for the top," said Hicks. "Everybody thought maybe you can do it. But everybody thought the other scores were good. So I just kept trying. I've always strived to do my best at everything I do."
Hicks is also involved in music at his church and cross-country running. He's planning to study engineering at Texas A&M.
