The Mississippi Board of Pharmacy will receive a $349,915 grant on Monday to help implement a prescription drug monitoring program, officials said.
Each pharmacy in Mississippi will have access to a computer database allowing pharmacists to track prescriptions and make sure people aren't getting multiple prescriptions filled at different pharmacies.
Organizers say this will help stop people from getting prescription drugs from several sources or duplicating and overlapping them.
Mississippi was chosen three years ago as one of five states to test the program.
