A familiar candidate is back on the campaign trail, hoping to win the Democratic nomination in a local congressional race.

Shawn O'Hara of Hattiesburg is running for the Third Congressional District seat currently held by Republican Cong. Gregg Harper.

O'Hara has run for numerous positions in the past, including a 2007 run for state treasurer. He shared some of his goals in a campaign stop in Meridian Tuesday.

"We need to lower gasoline prices. Stop giving billions of dollars to foreign countries. And stop letting millions of jobs go to communist China," O'Hara said.

O'Hara will face two other Democrats in the June 2 primary, Joel Gill and James D. Jackson. His sister, Tracella Lou O'Hara Hill, is also running for the seat as an independent Reform Party candidate.

i would vote for anyone that could do a better job than our current employee. He is definately not concerned with the affairs surrounding the queen city. Meridian needs a voice that can be heard. Not another yes man.
