Local law enforcement will begin Friday a special detail of enforcement to crack down on drunk driving. It will continue through Sept. 12.
The Meridian Police Department will be conducting "saturation patrols" as part of the "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" campaign.
"Not only will they be concentrating on DUIs, they will be working on seatbelt violations," said Capt Rick McCary of the Meridian Police Department. "Any type of driving that will be reckless or careless that would put the citizens of Meridian in jeopardy."
With Labor Day weekend approaching, drivers are reminded to buckle up, drive safely, and to always have a designated driver if alcohol is part of your celebrations.
