Just one day after airing a story on Bonnie Underwood's missing handicapped-equipped van that was stolen, her nightmare is finally over.
"I am just SO HAPPY. It has been recovered and I can go to church now."
The van was finally recovered from 9th Street and 21st Avenue early Saturday morning.
"Due to the story," says Captain Tommy Miller with the Meridian Police Department, "we received calls and that's how it was found."
"I just want to thank the person who called in about this," says Underwood.
Underwood says the recovered van looked to be in good condition with the exception of some trash and a gun holster that was found inside it.
"It is just a great day and I am just thrilled," says Underwood. "They tell me pretty much everything was and there and some things that we didn't put there were also there but I'm just happy to have it back."
"We just want to thank the public for getting involved. Without the help from the larger group, we can't do our job," says Miller.
According to the captain, the case is still an open investigation. Meanwhile, concerning who stole the vehicle, some evidence has been turned over to Police Department's investigative unit.
