The memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in Tad Smith Coliseum. Nineteen-year-old Howard Hillhouse Stone from Martinsville, Virginia, 20-year-old Jordan Williams from Atlanta and 19-year-old William Townsend from Clarksdale were killed in the blaze.
The fire started around 4:30 a.m. Friday morning at the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house on campus. Twenty-two students and the house mother were inside the structure when the fire started. According to fraternity members one of the victims, William Townsend woke up a number of residents and helped them get out of the house.
They say he died when he went back inside looking for two others. Autopsy results show the three died from smoke inhalation.
