A drug roundup in Neshoba County Wednesday was the result of a six-month-long operation.
It started in February with an undercover investigation among the Philadelphia Police Department, the Neshoba County Sheriff's Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Choctaw Drug Task Force.
It ended Wednesday morning with numerous arrest warrants being served for the alleged sale of illegal drugs.
"Out the 27 warrants, we netted 21 arrests in this case, most of them in the first two hours after the roundup began," said Capt. Stanley Wash of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
Authorities said they anticipate more arrests as the investigation continues. The charges range from the sale of cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine and prescription drugs.
Among those arrested was an escapee from Colorado and a suspect wanted on a felony DUI charge here in Lauderdale County.
"We got them all over the place," said Neal Higgason of the Philadelphia Police Department. "Most of them were at their house when the roundup took place."
