Some young girls say for months now, they have been bullied and harassed by a group of other female students at Meridian High School. Their parents say they are fed up.

"My daughter can't go to school without being jumped on and I've taken the proper channels and nothing has been done yet," said parent Willie Young.

"I feel they shouldn't have to go to school to be threatened or watch over their shoulder," said Sherren Smith, another parent.

Several of these parents have actually pressed charges against the alleged bullies, but they say the harassment continues.

"I even went and pressed charges because they came with sticks and bats to my house," said parent Veronica Williams.

Vicky Hood, the principal at Meridian High School, said she is aware of the situation. Hood said the school is doing what it can to stop the fighting, which she says goes both ways.

"What can you do? Take the word of one student against the other? But there has never been a situation where the school hasn't addressed it," Hood said.

Students involved in a physical altercation at MHS are given ten days out of school suspension, while those in a verbal altercation are given three days suspension. However, these parents say the policy isn't helping their daughters.
