Washington, D.C. Affirmative action and college admissions are back before the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday.
The high court is considering a case from Michigan, challenging the state's voter-approved ban on using racial and gender preferences in deciding who gets into college.
Just a few months ago, the court ruled the University of Texas could continue using racial criteria in admissions.
But justices made it much harder for institutions to justify affirmative action policies.
