Kemper County, Miss. Kemper County authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a wanted suspect. Robert Eugene Davis, 52, is wanted by Kemper County authorities in connection with at least one burglary in Porterville, and possibly other cases. According to investigators, one of those crimes was recently committed at a deer camp.
"These particular guys at that deer camp were there for a while," says Kemper County Sheriff James Moore. "I'm not going to say how long they were there, but officers were able to respond and get there in a very quick response time."
In fact, Sheriff Moore says the suspects were still at the camp house when a deputy arrived.
"Did not catch them at the scene. As a matter of fact, the first person that we arrested already basically looked up and saw the deputy at his truck," says Moore. "I mean he was right there. So, at the time, they hit the woods. The officer called for help because he knew that he had a burglary in progress."
Earlier this week Barry Riley of Meridian was arrested and charged in connection with the deer camp burglary.
"We located him at a later time due to the fact that we had his vehicle, and it was actually his vehicle that was used," says Moore. "The subjects were wearing like a mask to cover their face so they couldn't be identified. We were able to recover those items. So, we have a very good case."
At this time authorities are still searching for Davis in connection with the crime and they believe he could be in the Meridian area. If you have any information about where he can be found call East Mississippi Crimestoppers at 855-485-8477.
