Butler Teams with Agencies to Save Shelter Pets

Butler, Ala. A west Alabama town helped to save the lives of some animals Monday.

The town of Butler partnered with Paws for Hope and Faith and SouthBARK Animal Shelter to help adopt the town's shelter dogs instead of euthanizing them.

Butler officials signed 'pardons' to help give the agencies time to find new homes for the animals. Thirteen dogs were pardoned Monday.

"We decided to do this today because the town of Butler is committed to the humane treatment of animals," said Mayor Michael Williams.

"We are going to be networking the animals all over the country hoping to find them loving homes," said Dusty Feller, vice-president of SouthBARK Animal Rescue.

If you would like to adopt one of these dogs, you may reach SouthBARK Animal Rescue by email at adopt@save-a-southern-dog.com. The organization will send you an application to submit.
