Central United Methodist Church in Meridian held its annual fundraiser for St. Jude Hospital. Each year students and teachers work hard raising money.
A downtown sidewalk parade and room decorating contest was conducted Friday. But earlier in the week students got to take part in other activities such as a bike-a-thon as well.
"Our parents help. Our kids help," said board member Denise Johnson. "Everyone's in on the action. We decorate doors. We decorate bulletin boards. We decorate floats. And we have a parade today. Last year we raised over $8,000 which is a small amount when you consider the largeness of what they pay every day."
Our own Chip Scarborough was one of the judges.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was founded in 1962 by entertainer Danny Thomas.
