Meridian, Miss. A local church says it wants the community to know just how much it is loved.
Northcrest Baptist Church announced what it's calling Love Out Loud, a missions outreach set for next week.
All week long, members will be giving back to the community by volunteering and there will also be several events for the public, including three worship services in Dumont Plaza Sunday, Wednesday and Friday, starting each evening at 7 o'clock.
Organizers say it's simply a way to show that the church cares about this community.
"We've had mission trips to Costa Rica lately, the Ukraine, and those are great, and we want to be doing that even more," said Ben Shirley of Northcrest. "But we also want to be meeting needs right here at home. There's so much to be done in Meridian, so many local missions that can be done, and so many needs that have to be met."
Between 300 and 400 people will be taking part in ten different missions next week, volunteering at places like the Boys and Girls Club, Meridian Public Schools, and Feed by Faith.
Southern Baptist Convention president, Dr. Fred Luter, will preach at the Sunday night service. There will be a special block party for kids Friday night.
