Quitman, Miss. Clarke County Emergency Management officials say they are prepared for wintry conditions expected this week.
Emergency Management Director Eddie Ivy says residents need to be prepared in the event electric power and heat are lost due to the weather.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation and public works departments will be taking care of the bridges, but residents are urged to be careful on roadways.
"Our greatest risk and our greatest threat that we see right now is the threat for travel being dangerous," said Ivy. "And we are urging people if they don't have to be on the roadways tomorrow (Tuesday) during the event, certainly try to stay off that because that's where our greatest threat is going to be."
Ivy also encourages people to check on elderly neighbors and those less fortunate to make sure they have a place to stay warm.
