A mother and daughter, both suspects in the kidnapping of a 6-year-old child in Kemper County Apr. 30, appeared in federal court Wednesday afternoon.
Joyce Johnigan and Shaquayla Johnigan face conspiracy charges in the abduction of Jashayla Hopson from East Kemper Elementary School in Scooba.
The two are among a total of seven suspects who have been charged. The Johnigans were arrested Jun. 4. They have been detained in the Madison County Jail since then.
Joyce Johnigan was released on bond Wednesday following the hearing. Shaquayla Johnigan remained jailed.
